KWARA PDP releases guidelines for wards, LG Congresses

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has released the guidelines for its Ward and Local Government Areas Congresses scheduled to hold across the State later this year.

According to a statement signed by the State Chairman of the party, Hon (Engr) Kola Shittu, the guidelines were unanimously agreed upon to be followed strictly in choosing the wards and Local Government Areas officials.

The Guidelines reads: “Any member of the Party vying for a Party office / position at the Ward and Local Government Area must be a committed, loyal, resourceful and hardworking Party member who shall be a card carrying member with valid voter’s card.

“Any current executive member at the Ward and Local Government levels who have spent a cumulative period of 8 years and above in the executive position capacity should step aside to enable new Party members contest for the available positions in the forth coming congresses.

“Women should be allowed 30% of the available positions at both Ward and Local Government levels.At both Ward and Local Government levels, 30% of the executive members should be new faces who have not held any position previously or in the past.

“No individual, groups, or association are allowed to influence wither directly or indirectly the choice of executive members.

“Where zoning is applicable due to peculiarities in Ward and Local Government Areas, competence of individual candidate shall take prominence.

“The State executive member from each Local Government Area will oversee and superintend over the conduct of the congresses.

“The agreed list of the Executive members from each Ward and Local Government Areas must be submitted to the State Secretariat on or before Wednesday the 1st day of September, 2021”.
