Islamic Clerics have urged political stakeholders in the country to ensure equity and fairness in the distribution of elective positions in the forthcoming coming 2023 General Elections.

Only truth, justice, equity and fairness to all Constituencies, Zones, Wards and Units of the State could guarantee a united Kwara.

The Clerics stated this at the Ramadan Lecture and Prayer for Kwara State and Nigeria organised by the Publisher of the Kwara People Magazine, Hon. Abdul-Hameed Oladipupo popularly called Mr. Nigeria.

The event which was held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Hall, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin, has its theme as Politics, Equity and Fairness in Islam.

In his Lecture, the Imam Omoda, Sheikh Mustapha Oloka said that he believed in the unity of Kwara state, but leaders need to act in the interest of diversity in the State.According to him, only such acts of justice and fairness to all the zones can encourage Kwarans to believe in the unity of the State.

“It is not only Ilorin town that is called Ilorin Emirate, stakeholders should ensure equity in the distribution of positions to other local government area that formed the Kwara Central Senatorial District.

“Where we want love and peace to reign, there must be justice and equity in the distribution of elective offices. Stakeholders should share positions equally, don’t marginalize others because you have resources more than them,” he said.

Also, Sheikh Ibrahim Ambali Al-Adaby Apana urged Kwarans to join hands in building a united State to attract more development to the populace.

Apana said that all politicians must be accountable to the people to reduce the country’s problems and make Nigeria a better place to live in.

He urged the government and wealthy Nigerians to empower the less-privileged to make them productive in the society.

According to him, “All what we need is good governance, government should provide dividend of democracy to the populace.

“We have neglected the way and teachings of Allah, that is while the situation of this country turned upside down. The challenge we are having today is caused by the government, because they failed to do the right thing”, he added.

Speaking in the same direction, Khalifa Abdulrazaq Oniwasi Agbaye, said that Politicians must truly re-examine themselves to be sure that they are truly serving the nation Nigeria and not serving themselves or some sections of the country and ignoring others.

He advised that, “We must continue to see Nigeria as one country and all things done must be done truly in such a way that reflects that unity is in us, so that every zone will truly believe that we are in one Nigeria,” he said.

Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Iliasu Moro welcomed everyone to the occasion, which he said became necessary because it was the month of Ramadan.

Iliasu noted that, “Another reason while we are here is because we know how Kwara was in the past and how it is now. We are going to pray to God to continue to guide Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in the remaining days of his tenure and to also pray to God to help him to succeed in his bid for second term”.

He urged the people of the state to pray and support Gov. Abdulrazaq to succeed in the delivery of the much needed dividends of democracy to the electorates.

Other activities at the occasion was the prayer for the Country, Kwara State, Kwara Central Senatorial District and the Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, which was led by Sheikh Abdullahi Khalifat Kadiriya.
