The Executive Chairman of Isin Local Government Area, Honourable Chief Jolayemi Benjamin ‘Lanre on Thursday bagged an Excellence Award in Primary Health Care, dubbed “PHC Impact Award”, for his investment and leadership efforts directed at improving the standard of health care services delivery in his council area.
The award was presented in Abuja as part of the PHC Summit programme, during which the chairman also presented a position paper titled: “Leveraging Local Initiatives to Strengthen Primary Health Care Delivery in Isin Local Government, Kwara State.”
In his presentation, Jolayemi highlighted homegrown strategies, community participation models, and innovative pathways which he adopted in Isin LGA to enhance health care service delivery, improve accessibility, and ensure sustainable outcomes.
He also pointed out the power of local solutions and the importance of aligning them with state and national Primary Health Care priorities even as he emphasized that key stakeholders in the sector have shared vision for healthier communities. .
Responding after receiving the award, Jolayemi said: “Today marks a memorable and deeply humbling moment in my public service journey as I received the PHC Impact Award at the Abuja Primary Health Care Summit.
”This recognition, though unexpected, reinforces the collective commitment of our people and leadership towards building a stronger, more resilient Primary Health Care (PHC) System in Isin Local Government Area and by extension, across Kwara State.”
Chief Jolayemi, who is the OluOmo of Owu Kingdom and Kwara State Chapter Secretary of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), dedicated the award to the people of Isin Local Government Area and Kwarans in appreciation of their support, trust and active involvement in community health initiatives.
He was full of gratitude to Kwara State Governor, His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, whom he said, has been the pillar behind the successes being celebrated. He praised the governor, the Sardauna of Ilorin, for leading the way with visionary leadership, unwavering support and commitment to strengthening grassroots healthcare.
He expressed profound appreciation to the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, saying it had made every achievement possible by consistently providing the needed guidance, technical support and collaboration that continue to drive progress across all PHC centres in the state.
Jolayemi promised not to relent efforts towards building a Primary Health Care system that is accessible, efficient, and responsive to the needs of every citizen. “The collective approach towards ensuring the manifestation of our shared vision for healthier communities wouldn’t be misplaced, relegated or discarded,” he assurred.
