The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Kwara State Police Command has appointed the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Chairman, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed as the Patron.
The PCRC also gave the Kwara State Council of NUJ, Award of Excellence for its roles and valuable contributions to the sustenance of security, peace, and tranquility in Kwara State.
According to a statement issued and signed by the Union’s Secretary, Comrade Omotayo Ayanda, the Investiture of the Chairman and the Award Ceremony is scheduled for Thursday 2nd December, 2021 at Police Officers’ Mess, along Civil Service Commission Road, opposite Fire Service Headquarters/Kwara Hotel, GRA, Ilorin, by 10:00am prompt.
Comrade Ayanda noted that the PCRC confirmed the honour on the Council Chairman in accordance with the National PCRC Constitution, Article 28, Section 1 and 2.
The letter of appointment reads: “We are happy to inform you that the National Headquarters of the PCRC in the office of Inspector General of Police Force Headquarters, Abuja has consented to your nomination as one of the few recipients of Special appointment as patron by this National and Internationally accredited Security intelligence Unit in Kwara State”.
Also, the letter of Award of Excellence reads: “we acknowledge and appreciate the great roles and your valuable contributions to the sustenance of security, peace and tranquility in Kwara State.
“In accordance with the National PCRC Constitution, Article 27, Section 1, 3 and 4. We are happy to inform you that the National Headquarters of the PCRC in the office of Inspector General of Police Force Headquarters, Abuja has consented to your nomination as one of the few recipients of Special Commendation by this National and Internationally accredited Security intelligence Unit in Kwara State”.
The Council Secretary informed that the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Tuesday Assayomo would be the Special Guest of Honour at the event with other High Ranking Police Officers shall be at the avenue to present the award.
The statement also invited members of the Union to the ceremony.
PCRC was established about four decades ago, by the founding fathers of Police in Nigeria.
Since the inception, the PCRC has been a veritable tool for resolving issues that could have snowball into crisis and creating understanding between the police and members of the public in Nigeria.
