The President-General of Gamji Members Association (GAMA), Kwara State Chapter, Alhaji Mohammed Tunde Akanbi, has felicitated the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, and the entire Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.
In a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Wednesday, Akanbi implored Muslims to emulate Prophet Ibrahim (ASW), whose faith, piety and submission to the Almighty Allah birthed the Eid-el-Kabir being celebrated across the globe.
He advocated peaceful co-existence between Muslims and non-Muslims in accordance with the article of faith as Prophet Mohammed (SAW) exemplified.
Akanbi, who is also the State Chairman of National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), congratulated the Emir of Ilorin on this year’s Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar, which holds on Thursday (tomorrow) at the forecourt of the Emir’s Palace.
He called for modest and peaceful celebration of both events to portray the unity and harmonious character for which Ilorin Emirate is renowned.
Akanbi noted that aside the tourism aspect of the durbar, the essence of the horse procession over the years was to consolidate on the existing unity among the sons and daughters of the Emirate as well as those resident in.
The NALVEJ Chairman also commended the efforts of the Chairman of the Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee, who is also the Danmasani of Ilorin, Engr Suleiman Yahaya Oba Alapansanpa, and members of the committee in their quest to put Ilorin Emirate on the world map through constant improvement on the annual horse parade.
