In a remarkable display of excellence, the members of the Unilorin Quiz and Debate Club have yet again brought honor to their university by emerging as champions in another prestigious international tournament held last weekend.
The Unilorites secured the coveted trophy in the English-as-Second-Language category of the Western IV International Online Competition, a global event that saw participation from students representing 27 countries and 69 universities.
Representing the University of Ilorin were the dynamic duo of Alex Olafisoye from the Faculty of Education and Owolabi Victor from the Faculty of Law. Their impressive performance showcased the university’s dedication to nurturing talent and intellect.
Adding to the university’s involvement in the tournament, two other Unilorin students, Davida Paul and Ogundare Taye Tobi, took on significant roles as part of the Core Adjudication Panel, with Davida Paul serving as the Chief Adjudicator and Ogundare Taye Tobi as the Deputy Chief Adjudicator.
In response to this remarkable achievement, the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, expressed his pride, saying, “This great feat is a testament to the unwavering support provided by the University’s administration to the Unilorin Quiz and Debate Committee, enabling our students to excel in every debating competition they participate in.”
