Hon. Abdul-Hameed Oladipupo Alli (Mr. Nigeria), the Publisher of Kwara People magazine and an APC Chairmanship Aspirant in the recently concluded party’s Local Government Primary in Kwara State, has set a historic precedent in Nigeria’s burgeoning democracy. Alli accepted defeat and release his manifestos and programmes for use by his party’s flagbearers.
Alli, a former TIC Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government and a chairmanship aspirant, disclosed this in a letter submitted while appearing before the Appeal Committee set up by the party for aggrieved aspirants in the concluded primary elections. In his letter, Alli stated: “I am not before the committee to protest against the emergence of our flagbearer in Ilorin West Local Government but to make history as the first politician to release his manifestos to both his political party and emerging candidates for use where necessary or applicable.”
The Chairman of the Appeal Committee, Hon. Bamidele Aluko, and other committee members were surprised by Alli’s initiative. They commended him for encouraging all politicians and public office seekers to always play politics without bitterness.
In a related development, Hon. Alli congratulated Hon. Ladan, who emerged as the Consensus Candidate of Ilorin West Local Government. Alli presented a congratulatory letter to Hon. Ladan, along with a copy of his Kwara People magazine and his manifestos. He urged former vice president Atiku Abubakar, Mr.Peter Obi, and other defeated political candidates in Nigeria’s last general election to emulate his example by supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with their planned programmes and embrace the development efforts of the government.
Similarly, Hon. Alli met with the APC Offa Local Government Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Olatunji Sulaiman (Omituntun), who praised Alli for his commendable initiative.
Hon. AbdulRahman Babatunde Ladan, the Ilorin West Local Government Chairmanship Candidate, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Nigeria and promised to uphold the legacies of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in Ilorin West Local Government if elected.
Hon. Alli also announced his intention to expand his “Politics Without Bitterness” campaign through the newly created Movement for Politics Without Bitterness in Africa, engaging relevant stakeholders within and outside the State of Harmony.
