The Majority Leader of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Oba Abdulkadir Magaji, is set to deliver the keynote address at the upcoming Strategic Media Seminar. The event will take place on Thursday, 14 November 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Corporate Office of Sobi FM, located along Sobi Road, Ilorin.
Hon. Magaji, a distinguished legal professional and senior legislator, will speak on the theme, “Nigerian Parliament and Nation Building: The Role of the Media.” Following his keynote address, he will formally open the seminar, marking the start of a dynamic discussion on the intersection of media and legislative functions in nation-building.
According to a statement from organising Secretary and the Acting Chairman of NUJ Sobi FM, Kayode Adeoti, the seminar, attracting journalists from various media organisations and correspondents from major national newspapers across the country, will critically examine the media’s role in shaping and supporting the functions of Nigeria’s Parliament within the nation-building process.
Jointly organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Sobi FM Chapel and the Nigerian Media Parliament (NMP), the event aims to enhance media professionals’ skills in reporting on parliamentary affairs. It also seeks to promote public understanding and enhance greater accountability within the political arena.
This Strategic Media Seminar is set to provide a structured and interactive platform, promoting active engagement with the essential role of the media in supporting Nigerian democracy and the broader nation-building agenda.
