Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has extended fraternal greetings to all workers in the state on the occasion of May Day, acknowledging their vital role in driving governmental activities towards sustainable development.
In a statement released today to mark this year workers’ day, the Governor highlighted the indispensable contributions of workers to the socioeconomic growth of the state.
Reflecting on the removal of fuel subsidy nearly a year ago by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized the diverse impacts of this policy change on citizens’ lives and basic needs. Despite the challenges, he affirmed the government’s commitment to mitigating the effects through various measures.
The administration has implemented initiatives such as monthly transport support, staggered working days, and welfare packages aimed at bolstering workers’ spending power. Additionally, support measures have been extended to the general public as part of a comprehensive strategy to alleviate the impacts of the reforms.
Governor AbdulRazaq assured that the government would continue to assess and adapt its responses to current realities, including the forthcoming implementation of a new minimum wage once all processes are finalized. He reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to providing good and sustainable governance to the people of Kwara State.
