Muslim Student Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has called Nigerian Youths to shun every violence during the forthcoming general elections that would hold across the country.
The organization made this call in a communiqué signed by its Zonal Chairman and Secretary, Muhammad Bin Isa and Auwal Yunus respectively, at the end of the 79th Islamic Vacation Course (IVC), “A” Zone held in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The course which has its theme as “The New Dawn MSSN on Call”, was held between 22nd to 28th December, 2022.
The organization urged Muslim youths to form a unifying force and avoid been used as political thugs before, during and after elections that will jeopardize the success of the 2023 general elections.
The communiqué stated that there is need for religious leaders and parents to redirect their focus towards attitudinal change, character development, orientation and role modeling, while Muslims should absolutely reflect and act upon the life of the Prophet Muhammad in the evolving world with a view to reviving the lost glory of the Muslims.
The communiqué stated further that there is need for spiritual and moral training, active defense and promotion of Islamic cause and investment using Islamized digitalization and ICT content development for the preservation of our future generation.
It also called on Government to provide a secured conducive environment in the banditry spot areas to enable farmers carryout their farming activities towards ensuring food security in the country.
“Security agencies need to collect and monitor information so that they can be proactive and predict potential crimes near perfect accuracy and not reactively”, the communiqué stated.
The communiqué added that as a matter of urgency, Government should implement all the regulatory controlled economic policies including price control mechanism for stable economy with a view to ease the hardship of the average Nigerians.
It also appealed Government and ASUU to find a common ground and put the interest of Nigerian students at heart in order to permanently address the lingering strike action with the government living up to their part of agreement so as to uphold the standard of education.
While calling on Muslim Ummah and MSSN in particular to adopt all legal measures possible against any infringement on the freedom and religious rights of the Muslim sisters with appropriate sanction on violators, it urged United Nations to prevail on the Israeli government to abide by the UN Charter on human rights thereby granting equal state right for the Palestine while the Muslim nations as a matter of brotherhood fight for a common cause for the liberation of the Palestine.
The week-long event witnessed intensive training, instructors workshop, classroom instructions, Da’awah outreach, seminars and panel discussions, mentoring sessions, video shows, lectures on topics such as Reviving the lost Glory of Muslims, The New Dawn MSSN on call, Muslim Women and SMEs, Community Service as a Tool for Growth and Development among others.
The IVC had in attendance over one thousand nine hundred participants from the Northern States and Abuja.
