Media Parliament: Kwara NUJ hosts Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, Thursday

The Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) will on Thursday 23rd of September, 2021 hold its 30th Edition of the Media Parliament, a lecture series of the Council.

Themed “Naira Devaluation by Central Bank of Nigeria: How Did We Get Here? What Are The Challenges and Prospective For Us As Nation?, the media parliament will take place at the NUJ Press Centre, No. 28, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin, beginning from 10:30am.

In a statement, the State Chairman and Secretary of the Union, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed and Deacon Omotayo Ayanda respectively said a financial expert and former Chairman Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Senator Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, Ph.D is expected to deliver the lecture.

“In view of the raging financial quagmire and the attendant devaluation of Naira at the behest of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the guest is expected to make a presentation and in turn chart a way forward as a precursor to help rescue the nation’s economy from imminent drift”, the statement said.

The statement added that the Media Parliament was a forum designed for interaction with top-rated media practitioners and principally aimed at informing, enlightening and educating Nigerians, as well as bridging the information gap between leaders and the public.

It maintained that the platform was also put together to feature experts in all spheres of life to discuss issues pertaining to the growth and development of the nation.

The statement, however, noted that the guest would attend to questions from panelists and participants in attendance after the presentation.

It urged members of the NUJ to be punctual at the event.
