Social Democratic Party (SDP) fresh from receiving strong opposition block within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), recently, has stated that it is waxing stronger in Kwara State.
This disclosure was made on Monday at the Labour House, Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Secretariat, Ilorin where it held a familiarisation meeting with National and State officers present.
Speaking on this, the Chairman of the party, James Dada, said that SDP has come to stay in Kwara.
“Kwara State is one of the State where SDP found its footing with massive members.
“It is absolutely necessary to state it here without mincing words that some well to do individuals were pleased with the manifestos of the party and agreed to work with us on the same track,” he said.
According to the party Chieftain, SDP has its membership cut across the sixteen Local Govt Areas in the state.
Explaining the basis of the meeting on Monday, Dada said that there is need for old and new members to familiarize themselves amongst one another.
“By so doing it will ease our duties to work as a formidable team”.
He explained that apart from aggrieved APC members, members from PDP have also signified intention to be part of the SDP movement.
According to him, “it is in this light that today’s gathering signposts the fact that social Democratic Party has arrived and by the grace of God will rule the state come 2023.
“Social Democratic party is shinning and waxing stronger in Kwara State with the support of individuals, notably those that were willing and ready to be identified with us.
“My message to all of us here today, is that, I strongly implore you to tell our parents, brothers, sisters, friends and all Kwarans home and abroad to massively come and join this great party, SDP. It is the only party that will take us to the promise land.
“My admonition to all members of this great party is that, please we need to intensify more efforts in bringing in more people into the party. We need to mount aggressive mobilization in all nooks and crannies of individual Ward, Zone, Local Government, Senatorial and the State with our individual effort, I want to say the sky is our limit.
“Let me quickly remind all of us that are here today that our people are suffering beyond explanation. I vehemently plead to all and sundry, especially men, women and youths to let us harness the wisdom and strengths that God has bestowed on us to take Kwara state out from the hands of the cabal directing the affairs of the state towards their own selfish taste”, he added.
Recall that recently, a major faction of the APC loyal to Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, defected to SDP in Ilorin.
