Comrade Adamu Usman Sabi has been returned as Chairman of the Information Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council, after a unanimous decision by members of the chapel.
His re-election reflects the confidence members have in his leadership and the progress recorded during his first tenure.
The Information Chapel, known as the most populous in the state, comprises press secretaries and information officers across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in Kwara State.
Other officers elected include Dada Olaolu Daniel as Vice Chairman, Taiwo Okanlawo as Secretary, Rukayat Beki Abdulfatai as Financial Secretary, Mushinah Titilope Abdulmimin as Treasurer, and Ndidi Cynthia Ononhu-Nwafo as Auditor.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Kwara State Council of NUJ, Comrade Lanre Abdulateef Ahmed, described the election as another milestone in the life of the Information Chapel, noting that the process was conducted in line with the NUJ constitution.
He commended the credentials committee led by Comrade Murtala Atoyebi for conducting a transparent and credible election.
Comrade Ahmed urged the newly elected executive members to uphold the NUJ constitution and discharge their duties with integrity and commitment.
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Adamu Usman Sabi thanked members for their support during his first tenure and promised to build on the achievements already recorded.
He pledged to further enhance professionalism, improve members’ welfare, and strengthen collaboration with the Kwara State Council of NUJ.
“We will continue to promote the activities, programmes, and policies of the Kwara State Government for the benefit of the people,” he stated.
Sabi also called on members of the chapel to remain united and work together as one family to ensure a harmonious working relationship within the Ministry of Communications, which hosts the Information Chapel.
