Ajuloopin targets grassroots development, National security in new Legislative Bills

The lawmaker representing Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Raheem Tunji Olawuyi (Ajuloopin), has introduced a bill seeking the creation of additional Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Kwara State, a move he described as essential for deepening governance and accelerating grassroots development.

In a statement released by his Special Assistant on New Media, Jamiu Balogun, Hon. Olawuyi explained that the proposed legislation aims to enhance administrative effectiveness and bring government closer to the people, in line with his commitment to responsive and impactful lawmaking.

According to the federal lawmaker, the bill for new LGAs is one of two key bills he recently sponsored at the National Assembly.

The second seeks an amendment to the Private Guards Companies Act, a law he believes requires urgent reform to strengthen Nigeria’s national security framework.

Hon. Olawuyi noted that the amendment bill is designed to empower licensed private security companies to assume greater responsibility in security delivery.

This, he stressed, would free up the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to focus on critical tasks such as criminal investigation, intelligence gathering, and prosecution, rather than routine VIP protection and other non-core duties.

“If passed, this amendment will help reposition our security architecture for greater efficiency. It will ensure that professional private guards complement government security agencies in tackling emerging threats and maintaining public safety,” he said.

The legislator emphasized that both bills carry far-reaching benefits for his constituency and the country as a whole.

“They reflect our commitment to crafting legislation that responds to the needs of our people and addresses the evolving realities of our nation.

“Together, we will continue to champion policies that promote development, enhance security, and uphold good governance,” the Lawmaker said.
