Ambassador George Lekan Jimoh, Executive Director of the Passion for Peace Initiative, has called on Nigerians and global citizens to embrace unity, compassion, and peaceful coexistence as they mark Boxing Day.
In a Boxing Day message made available to the press, Jimoh described the season as a period for spreading love, kindness, and empathy, noting that these values align with the core mission of the Passion for Peace Initiative.
He said Boxing Day provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of unity, forgiveness, and understanding, while also honouring the spirit of giving and service to humanity, particularly to vulnerable groups and communities affected by conflict.
According to him, the Passion for Peace Initiative remains committed to promoting peace, tolerance, and non-violent conflict resolution, stressing that every individual deserves to live in a safe, harmonious environment where differences are respected and disputes are resolved through dialogue.
Jimoh also urged individuals and organisations to remember victims of conflict and violence, calling for solidarity and renewed commitment to building a more peaceful and compassionate society.
He further disclosed that, in line with the organisation’s vision, Passion for Peace Initiative is currently running a mentorship programme aimed at preparing future generations to uphold integrity, transparency, and strong national values.
“As we celebrate, let us be inspired to become agents of peace and be reminded of the transformative power of love and kindness,” he said.
Jimoh expressed appreciation to partners, supporters, and advocates for their continued efforts in promoting peace, noting that collective action remains key to achieving a more stable and peaceful future.
He concluded by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a peaceful Boxing Day celebration.
