The Association of Resident Doctors, Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (ARD-KWASUTH) has directed members to continue industrial strike actions over unmet demands from the Kwara Government.
The President of the ARD-KWASUTH, Dr Abdulfatah Abdulazeez, stated this on Tuesday in Ilorin in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
NAN reports despite the fact that NARD has call off the nation wide strike, the ARD-KWASUTH was given permission to continue their local strike if demands were not met.
According to him, there was no reaction or meetings with the state government to reach a conciliatory position over the myriads of challenges in the teaching hospital.
He lamented that the State government is yet to fill the man power gap in their demands which borders over better working conditions for members and patients as well as allowances.
“Despite our commitment and engagement with various bodies to improve service delivery and quality healthcare services, unresolved issues have made it impossible to maintain optimal service delivery,” he said.
“Our key concerns include manpower pap. We urgently need House Officers with improved remuneration and more resident doctors to prevent losing our residency accreditation,” he said.
Abdulazeez stated that doctors are still owed 2024 and 2025 accoutrement allowances.
He lamented over the poor working environment in the hospital which continuously affect the doctors duties.
The ARD-KWASUTH pledge to countinue the industrial strike actions unless the state government address the issues which continue to affect quality healthcare delivery.
