The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has described the sudden death of a legal luminary and Law scholar, Prof. Rasheed Ijaodola, SAN, as a great loss to the legal profession, the academia, and the nation as a whole.
The Offa-born, former Law lecturer at the University of Ilorin died on Sunday morning (March 16, 2025). Until his death, he was a Law professor at the Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State.
In a condolence message issued on his behalf by the University Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor, said the late Prof. Ijaodola bestrode the academia like a collossus, influencing several generations of lawyers who passed through his tutelage at the various universities where he had taught.
Prof. Egbewole described the late Prof. Ijaodola as “a bookwarm with no fewer than four Ph.D degrees in various fields, including Christian Studies despite being a Muslim. He was a remarkable scholar, a committed community builder, and a steadfast family man. He will be sorely missed by the legal profession, the academia, his Offa community, and especially his family.”
The Vice Chancellor prayed Almighty Allah to overlook his shortcomings and grant him Aljanah Firdaous.
