Emir Sulu-Gambari To Turban National Mosque Imam, Oba Sholagberu As Malami Ubandoma of Ilorin Emirate Jan. 2

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, will formally turban Sheikh Dr. Abdulkadir Oba Sholagberu as the 1st Malami Ubandoma of Ilorin Emirate on Friday 2nd January 2026.

Prior to the turbaning, Alhaji Sulu-Gambari will also host a special prayer for the Cleric on his appointment as an Imam of National Mosque, Abuja on Wednesday 31st December 2025 at the palace square by 10am.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Emir’s Press Secretary, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, stressing that the event will further rejuvenate the status of Ilorin Emirate as a citadel of Islamic jurisprudence, cultural and traditional destination among other laudable attributes.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari noted that the Islamic cleric cum traditional chief is a global scholar with strong networks which has being explored for the development of communities across the nation in the areas of infrastructural growth, human capital development as well as religious harmony, spanning over three decades.

He further described Dr. Oba Sholagberu who is also the founder of Darul Kitab College of Arabic and Islamic Studies as a super- philanthropist and patriotic Nigerian with unmeasurement sympathy and support for the less privileged especially youths and elders, to earn the prestigious traditional title of 1st Malami Ubandoma of Ilorin Emirate.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari therefore prayed Almighty Allah to grant Dr. Oba Sholagberu more accomplishments on earth even as he urged sons and daughters, residents and well-wishers of Ilorin Emirate to attend the historic event.
