As part of activities commemorating its 5th anniversary, Glamour Football Club held a lecture addressing the pervasive issue of social vices among youths.
The event, themed “Social Vices: Causes, Effects, and Possible Solutions,” took place at Government Day Secondary School, Tanke, Ilorin, and drew a diverse audience, including students, educators, and community leaders.
In his opening address, the President of Glamour FC, Eyitayo Abdulkareem, highlighted the club’s commitment to youth empowerment and societal growth.
“At Glamour FC, our mission extends beyond football. We aim to build stronger communities, inspire positive change, and equip our youth to become agents of transformation,” he stated.
Abdulkareem emphasized the detrimental effects of vices such as drug abuse, bullying, truancy, and cultism on the youth and the society at large.
The event featured two keynote lectures delivered by distinguished experts. Dr. Muhammad Tahir Oloyede presented a comprehensive lecture on “Social Vices: Causes, Effects, and Possible Solutions,” shedding light on the root causes and offering practical strategies for prevention.
Additionally, a presentation titled “Drug Abuse: A Menace to Our Society and Its Devastating Health Effects” delivered by Dr. Ayodeji Adeniran provided critical insights into the growing challenge of substance abuse among youths.
The representative of the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Hajia Saadat Kawu, Mrs. Abidoye Unice, commended Glamour FC for its efforts in addressing pressing societal issues and urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to better their lives and communities.
A highlight of the event was the distribution of exercise books and writing materials to participating schools across the state, symbolizing Glamour FC’s dedication to giving back to society and supporting education.
The impactful session reaffirmed the club’s role as not just a sports organization but a driving force for community development.
