Governor AbdulRazaq applauds DG NILDS for contributions to grassroots sport development

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has commended the Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Olarewaju Suleiman, for his dedication to grassroots development in Kwara State.

The governor gave the commendation during the closing ceremony of a 6-Aside football competition organized by Ajikobi Youth in Sports in honor of Professor Suleiman. The event was held at the KFA pitch, Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.

Represented by the Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bola Mogaji, Governor AbdulRazaq highlighted his administration’s commitment to promoting sports at the grassroots level as a means of addressing youth restiveness.

He noted that significant investments have been made in renovating the Kwara State Stadium to position the state as a hub for nurturing sporting talent.

In his remarks, Professor Suleiman expressed gratitude to the governor for prioritizing sports development and for the ongoing renovations at the stadium.

He said such developmental efforts can only be complimented by private individuals to sponsor sporting events that would make judicious use of the facilities at the stadium, using sports as a tool for youth empowerment and societal growth.

The Chairman of Ajikobi Youth in Sports, Comrade Abdulsalam Olanrewaju, emphasized that the football competition was organized to foster unity among youths.

He also commended Professor Suleiman, referred to as “AMANA,” for his unwavering contributions to sports and human capital development in Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State.

The competition concluded with Legacy FC defeating Eagle Star FC by three goals to one in a thrilling final match.
