ILLUMINATION MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME SHINES BRIGHT IN ILORIN

The flag-off of a year Career Guide of the Illumination Mentorship Programme, held at St. Joseph Centenary School, Ilorin, has been described as a resounding success.

Organized by the Passion for Peace Initiative (PPI) in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the year-long career guidance project tagged “Illumination Mentorship Matters” aims to equip secondary school students with essential life skills and career knowledge.

Participants were drawn from several schools, including St. Anthony Secondary School, C&S Secondary School, St. Barnabas High School, and Anglican Grammar School, among others.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Director of PPI, Ambassador George Lekan Jimoh, emphasized that effective mentorship is crucial to helping young people realize their dreams.

He urged the students to take their future seriously, make informed career choices, and remain focused.

Ambassador Jimoh added that the organization would continue to monitor the students’ progress to ensure proper guidance..

In his welcome address, the Director of Administration and Logistics of PPI, Hon. Adesina Ajisafe, described mentorship as a beacon of hope that helps students reach their full potential.

He encouraged participants to take advantage of the programme to become better versions of themselves.

The Principal of St. Joseph Centenary School, Mrs. Elizabeth Afolayan, commended the organizers for initiating the mentorship training, noting that it would greatly benefit the students.

Delivering a goodwill message, the Deputy Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Kwara State, Mr. Solomon Kolo, advised students to shun thuggery and other negative behaviors that could jeopardize their future. He urged them to be ambassadors of peace and patriotic citizens committed to national development.

Distinguished guests at the event included representatives from the Governor’s Office Media Crew, NAWOJ, Daily Source, and the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The success of the inaugural cluster reflects PPI’s commitment to nurturing young minds through mentorship, academic support, and life skills development, thereby empowering them to become future leaders and responsible members of society.
