The Kwara Government will target about 800,000 under-five year olds for the National Immunization Plus Days ((NIPDs) and also 200,000 pregnant women on healthcare intervention.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NIPDs are a nationwide campaign, coordinated by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), to vaccinate children against vaccine-preventable diseases, especially polio.

The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Prof. Nusirat Elelu, stated this on Wednesday in Ilorin while speaking during the Meeting of the Kwara State Task Force on Immunization and Primary Healthcare (PHC).

Elelu who was represented by the Director Primary Healthcare System of the Agency, Dr Michael Oguntoye, disclosed that the campaign will commence on Nov. 29 and end on Dec.3rd.

According to him, the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) would be integrated with the immunization plus days.

The MNCH focuses on improving the well-being of women from adolescence through pregnancy and childbirth, as well as the health of newborns and children, by providing quality healthcare and preventing preventable deaths.

She commended Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for being very supportive in terms of approval and fund release to make sure that the PHC activities are successful.
