Kwara NUJ reschedules political debate for November 16, 17

The Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has postponed its maiden politcal debate among candidates of political parties in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

The two days’ event, which was initially scheduled for Wednesday (tomorrow) 26 and Thursday 27 October, 2022, will now hold between 16th and 17th of November, 2022.

In a statement issued in Ilorin, the Chairman and Secretary of the Planning Committee of Kwara NUJ Political Debate, Mr Segun Adeyemi and Prince Yemi Adurotoye respectively, said the event tagged “Conversation 2023” was shifted due to unforeseen circumstances.

The statement regretted the inconveniences the postponement caused candidates of political parties and other special guests already invited for the event.

It explained that the debate was designed to create a platform for candidates to interact with the electorates on their programmes and plans to better the lots of the populace.

The statement informed that the debate for the National Assembly candidates is fixed for Wednesday, November 16, 2022 while parties’ candidates for the State House of Assembly are slated for Thursday, November 17, 2022.

It reiterated the commitment of the state NUJ to be impartial and ensure a level playing ground for all candidates of political parties during the programme.
