The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State has hailed the smooth conduct of the party’s local government congress which held today in the 16 local government areas of the State.
In a statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Tunde Ashaolu, the party commended its members for their maturity and peaceful conduct in electing party executive at their respective local councils.
The party also congratulated the elected party officers and urged them to see their election as a call to serve and further contribute to the growth and development of the party.
The statement reads in part: “The smooth and successful conduct of our local government congress across the 16 local government areas of Kwara represents another progress for our party and further demonstrates our readiness to build a strong, united and formidable party that is ready to take over power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and provide genuine and quality governance to the people of the State.
“We acknowledge and appreciate the roles played by leaders, elders and relevant stakeholders in the party particularly our national leader, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON, towards the successful conduct of the local government congress.
“We also commend party faithfuls for showing maturity and cooperation which largely contributed to the peaceful conduct of the exercise. This is a further testament to quality leadership, unity and respect that we enjoy in the Kwara PDP family.
“The party congratulates the newly elected local government party executive and charge them to see their election as a call to serve and work for the growth and development of the party.”
Meanwhile, the former Kwara South Senator, Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, appreciated the commitment of the party elders, stakeholders women and youths for being resolute to work as a team to drive the party ahead of the 2023 elections.
The Senator while participating in the Kwara PDP Congress in his Oyun Local Government Area, saluted the courage and commitment of the people which showed their readiness to take back power in the state from the ineptitudeness of the ruling APC in Kwara State.
As it was in other LGAs across Kwara, the exercise was peaceful and orderly in Oyun which witnessed large turn out of party faithful in the local government.
Senator Rafiu while address the newly elected party officials, preached unity and charged them to be fully ready for the task ahead.
He also charged them to work as brothers and sisters and urged them to continue to appeal to the aggrieved members from the usual fallout in congresses to be victorious together.
