The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has celebrated another achievement as Team Kwara emerged overall winner of the 2025 Presidential School Debate Championship in the Junior Secondary School category, securing the state’s fourth consecutive national title.

The victory further crowns an exceptional year for Kwara students, who also clinched international honours by winning the 2025 Asia Parliamentary Debate Championship held in Malaysia in December 2025, thereby placing the state on the global academic map.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Executive Chairman of Kwara SUBEB, Prof. Sheu Raheem Adaramaja, who described the achievements as an evident to Kwara State’s growing reputation as a centre of academic excellence, intellectual development, and youth leadership.

SUBEB attributed the sustained successes to the commitment and strategic investments of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.

According to the Board, the Governor’s education-focused reforms and prioritisation of basic education have continued to deliver measurable results.

The statement noted that under Governor AbdulRazaq’s leadership, Kwara State has strengthened teacher capacity, improved learning infrastructure, and institutionalised programmes that promote critical thinking, communication skills, and academic competitiveness at the basic education level.

SUBEB expressed profound appreciation to the Governor for creating an enabling environment that allows learners to excel nationally and internationally.

The Board also commended the dedication of teachers, debate coaches, school administrators, and parents whose collective efforts contributed to the historic victories.

The Board added that the accomplishments reaffirm Kwara State’s position as a benchmark for educational development in Nigeria and beyond.
