The Kwara State Government has cautioned members of the public against taking law into their hands, rather, it encouraged them to always report suspected individuals to the right quarters for prosecution within the confines of the law.
A statement by the state Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam PhD, condemned the jungle justice melted out on a suspected woman in Ilorin, describing it as an incivility and highly barbaric.
The statement further emphasised that the present administration in the state is committed to protecting rights of every resident, maintaining that the government would not tolerate any act of rascality and illegality capable of threatening the existing peace and harmony across the state.
It therefore, warned all residents to desist from taking laws into their hands, emphasizing that anyone that involves in such act would be made to face full wrath of the government, prosecuted and sanctioned accordingly.
The statement further commiserated with the family of the victim of the jungle justice, over the loss, saying that the government is working tirelessly with the law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.
It, however, called on the state residents not to be panic but support the government by giving necessary information to security agencies in order to surmount the security challenges in some parts of the state.
