President Tinubu’s policy has promoted infrastructure, agriculture in Kwara — Minister

Alhaji Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, has stated that President Ahmed Tinubu’s policies have recorded concrete achievements in three critical areas in Kwara.

The Minister stated this on Tuesday in Ilorin while presenting the Mid-term Achievements of the Tinubu Administration to the people of Kwara.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the minister was represented by Alhaji Abubakar Hammed, the Head, Federal Information Centre in Kwara.

Idris listed some of the achievements in Kwara to include infrastructure development, Agriculture, and access to the National Economic and Empowerment Development Fund (NELFUND).

“This gathering serves as a platform to inform the public about the progress made by the Tinubu-led administration, especially in relation to the good people of Kwara.

“The Tinubu administration has made significant headway in infrastructure, with the aim of improving connectivity and promoting economic integration,” he said.

The Minister noted that there is development of rural and urban infrastructure, such as feeder roads and small-scale bridges.

According to him, the government has also rehabilitated and expanded major roads; the Ilorin–Jebba–Mokwa road, which has greatly enhanced transportation and commerce.

“There is construction of strategic bridges, including the Ilorin–Osi bridge, reducing travel time and fostering regional cohesion.

“Upgrading of the Ilorin International Airport, increasing air traffic, boosting commercial activities, and improving access to the state,” he said.

Idris stated that Agriculture has been a strategic focus of the administration, aimed at ensuring food security and empowering rural communities.

He noted that there was launch of the Kwara State Agricultural Development Programme, which offers support and extension services to farmers to improve productivity.

“The government established the Agricultural Processing Zone, creating jobs and strengthening agricultural value chains.

“There is also provision of agricultural loans and grants, helping farmers access funding, inputs, and machinery for greater efficiency,” he said.

In the area of education, Idris pointed out that students have access to NELFUND Loan, adding that the Tinubu administration has broadened the scope of economic opportunities.

Also speaking, Alhaji Abdullateef Ishowo, a Political Scientist and Public Analyst commended Tinubu’s efforts in addressing various challenges facing the country.

He listed some of the challenges to include economic growth, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

“One of the administration’s most notable achievements is maintaining uninterrupted academic activity in Nigerian universities,” he said.

Ishowo also commended Tinubu for allocating over ₦250 billion to revamp primary healthcare centres nationwide.

The Analyst also observed that there is improvement in Nigeria’s electricity, adding that the government has added over 1,500 megawatts to Nigeria’s electricity grid in two years.

He however appealed to the administration to look into the nation’s civil service and increase workers salary.

Mrs Adebukola Babalola, the Deputy Chief of Staff to Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara commended the Minister for the sensitization of citizens on the two-year milestone achievement.

She pointed out that a lot of citizens lack an indepth knowledge of what the government is doing.
