A two-Day Inter-Chapels Table Tennis Championship, put together by the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), holds between Wednesday November 24th and Thursday November 25th, in Ilorin, the state capital.
The competition will be sponsored by Hon. Owolabi Olatunde Rasaq representing Share/Oke-Ode Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly.
A statement signed by the Chairman of the Recreational Committee of the State NUJ, Jimoh Bashir requested all Chapels to forward names of their representatives for the competition to the Committee on or before Tuesday, 23rd November, 2021.
Each of the Chapels are expected to forward names of two players, one male and one female, for the contest.
Bashir confirmed that the tourney would hold at the NUJ Press Centre, Opposite St. Anthony Secondary School, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin, beginning from 10:00am each day, and will be declared open by the sponsor, Hon Owolabi Olatunde Rasaq.
The competition is aimed at sustaining the sports development programme of the Council, and in keeping with the pledge of the present NUJ’s Executives’ resolve to broaden recreational activities at the NUJ.
It would be recalled that the Council, in keeping faith with its pledge, constituted a Recreational Activities Committee, which is being led by Jimoh Bashir.
Other members of the Recreational Activities Committee are Mohammed Nurudeen, Popoola Nusirat, Bimbola Suleiman and Kehinde Omolosho.
Prizes have been made available for winners, as well as consolatory prizes for the participants.
