A forum of former members of the Kwara State House of Assembly under the auspices of All Progressive Congress (APC), on Monday endorsed Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for a second term in office.

The forum has as members former Legislators of the State House of Assembly from the first Republic to 8th Assembly.

Addressing newsmen in Ilorin, Hon. Benjamin Oyeyemi said that the forum was impressed with the achievements of the current administration in less than four years in office.

The forum which appraised the performance of AbdulRazaq and awarded him a clean bill of health, declared that, “there is no alternative to his re-election for second term come 2023.”

The former lawmakers declared that the three and half years administration of the AbdulRazaq’s led administration have witnessed even distribution of resources through execution of projects across the 24 constituencies of the state.

Oyeyemi said that the last two budgets presented by the governor with capital expenditure getting lion shares, were catalysts to a visible business environment and rural and urban development of the state.

“The last two budget presentations were in favour of capital expenditures,in spite of sharp increase in salary and wages of public servants and cost of governance in the state. The forum notes that the recently presented 2023 budget proposals in which capital expenditures take lion share of 50.9% of the total budget estimates, is quite in order, laudable and a welcome development.

“The forum notes with satisfaction the laudable achievements of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in three and a half years of his assumption of office as Governor of Kwara State and the uncommon way he had operated, which have brought physical developments and democratic dividends, right to the door steps of the people that voted him into office. His actions and mode of operation have been in such an unprecedented way and manner that have endeared him largely to the people of Kwara State,” Oyeyemi stated.

He listed some of the projects to include rehabilitation of Ilesha Baruba and Gwanara township roads, Jebba water works, Tanke/UNILORIN road fly -over project and construction of Osi-Obbo – Aiyeguble road in Ekiti local government area, amongst others.

“We, as former members of Kwara state House of Assembly after an in-depth thorough, honest and selfless assessment of the past three and half years of the governance and administration of governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, have no alternative than to give our full, unalloyed and unreserved support for his second term as governor of our beloved state.

“Furthermore, we hereby urge the patriotic people of Kwara state to support him to win the forthcoming gubernatorial election in 2023. This would not only enable him optimally realize his vision and mission for a progressive and developed Kwara state in the course but would also guarantee the realization of his patriotic and dedicated ambition to leave Kwara state, much better than he met it in 2019”, Oyeyemi said.

Describing AbdulRazaq as leader with a difference, Oyeyemi hailed his decision to complete two projects initiated by his predecessors.

“Governor AbdulRazaq, as a true leader ensured the completion of an hostel project at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. This project was initiated by the late Governor Mohammed Lawal who governed the state between 1999 – 2003. The governor also completed the new state secretariat project initiated by the immediate past administration of former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed. The governor’s decision in this regard is a rare occurrence and a total departure from the former practice when incumbent governors abandoned the projects initiated by their predecessors,” Oyeyemi added.
