The Nigeria Labour Congress, Kwara State Council has concluded arrangement to organise a day workshop on effective Leadership for all its affiliated Unions, as part of its intensified efforts to ensure that Kwara workers, especially those in Trade Unions are no longer relegated to the background,
The workshop which is slated for Wednesday 16 March, 2022, has its theme as ‘Reinforcing Leadership Effectiveness: An Imperative for a Upward Movement in Trade Union’.
According to the State Chairman of the Congress, Alhaji Isa Aliyu Ore, the workshop will be held at National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Zonal Office, along Airport Road, Ilorin, begining from 9:00am.
Alhaji Ore said that expected Special Guests at the Workshop are: Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, Eng. Shaliu Yakubu-Danladi, Head of Service, Kwara State, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole, SSA to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Labour Matters, Comrade Onogun, State Controller of Labour, Labour Veterans among other important dignitaries,
Speaking further on the workshop, Alhaji Ore noted that it is part of his agenda to engage in capacity building of labour movement in the state.
“The NLC is holding a day leadership retreat on the core values of the labour movement in Kwara State, current realities and project on what the future of work holds for workers.
“The overall goal of the workshop is to get the leadership of Unions at all levels to examine, discuss, brainstorm and proffer pragmatic ideas to the challenges of today and fears for tomorrow confronting Nigerian workers.
“The workshop will also create an opportunity of interaction between different afflicted Union and bring the leadership of the NLC together to rub minds on issues affecting us and our members.
Alhaji Ore who called for human capacity development to meet with the changing times, emphasized that as leaders, you owe a duty to your followers to go beyond providing solutions to the problems of today but also to prepare answers to the questions of tomorrow.
