It was a historic royal gathering in Abuja on Wednesday when the Soun of Ogbomoso, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, CON, led a delegation of Ogbomoso traditional rulers on a courtesy visit to the office of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, Director-General of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) and the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Speaking during the visit, Oba Olaoye described the occasion as both a gesture of solidarity and an endorsement of the councils’ mandate. He affirmed that the Ogbomoso traditional institution stands firmly behind the Director-General and the vision of the two strategic government councils.
The monarch, visibly impressed by the work of the DG, urged Prince Adeyemi to regard his appointment as a divine opportunity to serve Nigeria at a critical time. He commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for its efforts to rebuild the nation’s economy and emphasized the pivotal role the DG’s leadership would play in achieving those goal.
“The position you occupy is not just for you, but for the entire country. You must see it as a call to support this administration in its efforts to grow the Nigerian economy. Be assured that Ogbomoso people, at home and abroad, are behind you,” the monarch declared.
In his response, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew expressed deep appreciation to the Soun and the accompanying Obas for their fatherly support and encouragement. He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by President Tinubu and to drive the councils’ mandate with diligence, patriotism, and integrity.
The Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) functions as the Presidency’s think tank on economic matters, delivering research-driven analysis, policy guidance, and innovative strategies to stimulate growth, enhance fiscal responsibility, and promote inclusive development.
The Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) is tasked with mobilizing international partnerships, attracting foreign investments, and coordinating strategic interventions to advance Nigeria’s global economic interests.
Prince Adeyemi stressed that both councils are aligned with President Tinubu’s vision of repositioning Nigeria as a global economic player and restoring investor confidence.
“We will not relent until Nigeria stands firmly as the economic powerhouse of Africa,” he assured.
For the Soun of Ogbomoso and his council of chiefs, the visit was more than a symbolic display of tradition; it was a strong statement of support for a son of the soil now serving in a position of national and global importance.
