ENDSARS: Police arrest journalist, protesters in Osun

The Police in Osun state have arrested some protesters and a journalist, Sikiru Obarayese during the protest to commemorate the first anniversary of the demonstration against police brutality in the state.

Some armed policemen dispersed #Endsars protesters around Oke Fia, Osogbo, Osun State.

Some youths under the aegis of the #Endsars Movement had stormed streets in Osogbo in protest to commemorate the first anniversary of the demonstration against police brutality in the state.

The protesters, who took off at about 12 pm at Ita Olokan Area, went through Station Road before heading to Freedom Park, Osogbo, singing to demand the end to police brutality and ask for good governance.

The leader of the protesters, Victor Lijofi, accused the police of cordoning off the initial convergence point for the protest.

But a few meters away from Oke Fia, where the protest was billed to end, about eight trucks loaded with police personnel forcefully dispersed the protesters.

The leader of the protesters, Victor Lijofi also alleged that one of the protesters was arrested, adding that “we can’t say who it is yet. But one person was arrested around Freedom Park.”

Speaking on the arrest, the Osun State Police PRO, SP Opalola Yemisi said: We are managing the situation already please. Thanks.”
