The Commissioner for Social Development, Chief Mrs. Afolashade Kemi, initiated an evacuation operation targeting street beggars in the Ilorin metropolis today.

The operation began at the Tipper Garage in Tanke, Ilorin, and continued to Offa Garage, Gerialimi, and Challenge areas, where many street beggars reside. This mission aligns with one of the primary objectives of her ministry: social development.

Honorable Afolashade emphasized that the leadership of the Abdulraham Abdulrazaq government has unequivocally prohibited street begging in these areas.

During the operation, a mentally distressed woman was discovered lying under a bridge. The Honorable extended immediate assistance by providing food and engaging in a conversation about her preferred vocation.

Subsequently, the ministry arranged for her to receive the necessary treatment.
