The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) has expressed delight over the emergence of 23-year-old Akinola Aishah Mojisola as the overall best graduating student of Darul Kitab Was-Sunnah, an Islamic and Arabic institution in Ilorin, Kwara State.
This was contained in a press release signed by the association’s Amirah, Hajia Bilqis Modupe Oladimeji, and made available to newsmen in Ilorin.
Aishah’s achievement is historic. She becomes the first female student in the 34-year history of the institution, founded in 1992, to emerge as overall best graduating student.
The final examination results, released last week, placed the Ilorin indigene ahead of her peers.
Born and raised in the Idi Ape area of Ilorin, Aishah developed a strong interest in Arabic and Islamic education early in life before enrolling at Darul Kitab Was-Sunnah. Throughout her studies, she distinguished herself through dedication, discipline and consistent academic excellence.
FOMWAN described the feat as a significant milestone for female students pursuing Arabic and Islamic scholarship, a field traditionally dominated by male scholars.
The association noted that Aishah’s success underscores the growing participation of young Muslim women in advanced Islamic learning and serves as an inspiration to others.
The institution’s proprietor, Sheikh Dr. Abdulkadir Jumuah Salman Solagberu, who is also the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja, and the first Malami Ubandoma of the Ilorin Emirate, had earlier lauded the young scholar’s outstanding performance.
FOMWAN reaffirmed its commitment to promoting quality Islamic and Western education for girls and women across Nigeria, describing Aishah’s accomplishment as a source of pride for the Muslim Ummah in Kwara State and beyond.
