Industrial Pharmacists organise free medical-outreach for 2,500 indigents in Kwara

The Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP), has organised free medical outreach for about 2,500 indigents in Ilorin.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the medical outreach is part of the activities organised for the 29th Annual National Conference of the association.

Speaking on the sidelines of the outreach in Ilorin, the National Chairman of NAIP, Mr. Bankole Ezebuilo, stated that this is part of the association’s way of giving back to the society.

Ezebuilo explained that the outreach includes laboratory investigation for the beneficiaries as well as free medication.

Similarly, he disclosed that the association has renovated the Emir of Ilorin’s Clinic at the palace and also donated drugs worth N3 million to the facility.

The chairman of NAIP reiterated that association will continue to touch the lives of the less privileged in Nigeria through medical outreaches and improved health services.

Also speaking, the Chairperson Local Organising Committee of the Conference, Mrs. Aina Obafemi explained that apart from outreach, the industrial Pharmacists also organised health-walk across the Ilorin metropolis.

She noted that the beneficiaries were tested for blood sugar, Malaria, blood pressure, whil many drugs were distributed free of charge.

The pharmacist observed that some of the common aliments presented at the medical outreach included high blood pressure, malaria, pile, diabetes and low weight among the aged people.

Obafemi who commended the State government for the giant stride recorded in the State healthcare system, however urged the government to do more in the area of healthcare.

The Kwara Chairman of NAIP, Mr Isaac Salami explained that the conference is tagged Harmony 29th, adding that the programme touches on collaboration and innovation in pharmaceutical industries.

He pointed out that the theme of the conference entitled: “Collaboration and Innovation to Build Local Solutions for the Future of Nigeria’s Pharmaceutical Industry”, is apt considering the situation in Nigeria’s pharmaceutical industries.
