Kwara Dep Gov, Alabi leads efforts to reconcile APC in Ifelodun

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State has held a crucial stakeholders’ meeting aimed to address internal party conflicts and foster unity, love, and peace among party members.

The meeting which was held on Monday, July 17, 2023, at the Deputy Governor’s Office, Ilorin, was convened by His Excellency Mr. Kayode Alabi.

In his opening speech, Deputy Governor Mr. Kayode Alabi emphasized the importance of resolving grievances that arose from the last APC primary elections and allegations of anti-party activities during the general elections.

He urged all factions to come together and unite for the greater good of Ifelodun Local Government and the entire state.

He also highlighted the electoral strength of Ifelodun LGA in the Federal Constituency, Senatorial District, and the state, urging party members to leverage this political influence for their advantage.

During the meeting, various speakers highlighted the key challenges faced by the APC in Ifelodun Local Government. The problems identified included a lack of trust, unity, and love among the party leadership, resistance of followers to the constituted authority, selfish interests overriding public interests, and instances of anti-party behavior during the last elections.

According to the communique issued at the end of the meeting, in a bid to address these issues and promote party cohesion, the stakeholders collectively agreed on the following resolutions:

“Forgiving the grievances arising from the last election and putting the interests of the party above individual concerns.

“Emphasizing the importance of peace, unity, and love to move forward together.

“Maintaining the party structures in Ifelodun LGA while accommodating new members to ensure inclusiveness in governance.

“Placing the Local Government’s interest above any individual interest.

“Holding party leadership accountable for fairness, justice, and equity to all party members.

“Unanimously respecting the directives of the constituted authority,” the communique said.

Prominent political figures such as Barrister AGF Salahudeen and Hon. Rasak Owolabi, both House of Assembly members from the Local Government, Senator Makanjuola Ajadi, the Local Government TIC Chairman Hon. Jide Ashonibare, Council members, Hon. Gbenga Oyekunle (Gbenga Power), former House of Assembly members, and former Local Government Chairmen were among the attendees.
