The 16 Local Government Chairmen in Kwara State, under the aegis of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), have unanimously declared their support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi.
The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued after an all-attended meeting of the association held on recently at the ALGON Secretariat, Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ilorin.
According to the communiqué, the council chairmen resolved to throw their full weight behind Danladi, who currently serves as the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, describing him as a competent leader capable of sustaining and advancing the developmental strides of the present administration.
The chairmen also reaffirmed their confidence in the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, commending his administration for what they described as diligent, progressive and people-oriented governance since assuming office in 2019.
They stated that their collective endorsement was aimed at dispelling doubts and misconceptions within the ruling party and among members of the public, while helping to reduce political tension in the state.
The communiqué noted that Danladi represents the “Legacy of Continuity” agenda and possesses the experience and leadership qualities required to consolidate on the achievements of Governor AbdulRazaq.
The chairmen said they believe he has learned the ropes of leadership from the incumbent governor and is well-positioned to build on the solid foundation already laid by the administration.
The ALGON members further pledged to mobilise support for the APC candidate within the confines of the law to ensure his victory at the polls and his success in governing the state if elected.
They expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for what they described as his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the welfare and development of Kwara State.
The communiqué was jointly endorsed by the chairmen of all 16 local government councils in the state, including Asa, Baruten, Edu, Ekiti, Ifelodun, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Ilorin West, Irepodun, Isin, Kaiama, Moro, Offa, Oke-Ero, Oyun and Patigi.
The endorsement is expected to further strengthen support for the APC governorship candidate ahead of the forthcoming election in Kwara State.
