Retired NIS Deputy Controller General Urges Patriotism at Pull-Out Ceremony

Hajia Sadat Hassan, the retired deputy controller general of Immigration (NIS), emphasized the importance of patriotism among officers and men of the service during a pull-out ceremony held in her honour at the Kwara State Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service.

Addressing the gathering, Hassan underscored the need for law enforcement agents to exhibit unwavering patriotism in their duties, reminding them that their roles do not place them above the country’s interests. She urged adherence to service rules regardless of their deployment.

The ceremony, held at the command’s annex office at the Federal Secretariat, Ilorin, saw the unveiling of a book titled ‘The Silent Amazon: Sadat Hassan; Life Of A Compassionate Officer’ in her honour.

Expressing gratitude, Hassan acknowledged the support she received from President Bola Tinubu, Comptroller-General of Immigration Service, Mrs. Caroline Adepoju, and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq during her tenure.

In his book review,  a professor of Political Science at the University of Ilorin,  Hassan Salihu, described  the honoruree as a model worthy of emulation by the young generation.

Additionally, the Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, announced the forthcoming induction of Hassan into the community’s hall of fame, recognizing her as the first female indigene of Ilorin Emirate to attain the position of Deputy Controller General of Immigration. This announcement came during a thanksgiving prayer held at the Emir’s palace.

The Emir urged unity and solidarity among the people of Ilorin Emirate while praising Hassan for her unparalleled service record and urged others to follow suit.

Notable personalities graced the occasion, including Alhaji Hassan (the spouse of the retiring officer), renowned Nigerian actor Alhaji Adebayo Salami, Justice AbdulLateef Kamalden, Engr. Yusuf Lanre Sagaya, Amb. Nimotallahi Akanbi, among others. 

Top immigration officers from within and outside the Kwara command were also in attendance.

The event not only celebrated the exemplary service of Hajia Sadat Hassan but also reiterated the importance of patriotism and unity among citizens.
