The Kwara State Social Democratic Party’s Gubernatoial candidate, Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal has charged all eligible voters in the State to urgently go and get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC), stressing that “it is only through PVC we can hire and fire political office holders of our choice”.
The International Financial expert made this call via press release signed by Comr. Andulrasheed Akogun, Deputy Director, Media and Straegic Communication of the SDP/Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal Campign Organization.
According to him, the Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed Monday, December 12, 2022 to Sunday, January 22, 2023 as the dates for the collection of PVCs across the 16 local government areas of Kwara State.
He therefore enjoined all eligible voters to ensure they go to the designated collection centres to obtain their PVC.
He also reminded the voters that of the fact that INEC will devolve PVC collection to the Registration Areas/Wards from Friday 6th to Sunday 15th January 2023; and stressed that those that are unable to collect their PVCs at the Local Government Offices of the Commission can do so at the Registration Areas/Electoral Wards. After the 15th of January 2023, the exercise will revert to the Local Government Offices of the Commission until 22nd January 2023.
According to the SDP gubernatorial candidate, “it is not in doubt, judging from our Statewide interactiveparley with critical political and non-political stakeholders, that majority of the Kwara population are tired of the present administration, who promised a lot, yet has been unable to deliver its inconsequential little satisfactorily.
” Eventhough, it falsely prides itself as the best thing to ever happen to Kwara.
“Thus, the populace has since concluded in sacking the administration and bringing onboard the pro-masses party, the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the only leading party in the State who rather than having a godfather operates a collegiate decision making model, that gives all societal stratas importance and a say.
“The only way this resolve can be realised is through the ballot. The sole key to unlock the ballot and be eligible to vote is through the possession of a valid PVC.
“Therefore, the importance and urgency we all attached to transfer our PVC to a new choice location, replacement of lost PVC and registration by first timers as the case maybe. We need even more zeal and dedication to not only come out for the collection of our PVC, also we must all safe guide it jealously.”
He added that “It has also to our knowledge that the drowning party have perfected plans to obtain innocent Kwarans PVC under the guise of data collation for a phantom empowerment. I beseech our people to not fall for the bait, as it’s nothing but an attempt to disenfranchise them from being able to on Election Day.
“All eligible and valid registrants can collect their PVCs from 9.00am to 3.00pm daily, including Saturdays and Sundays”.
