Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Thursday led the pack of dignitaries that attended the fidau prayer of a prominent Ilorin businessman, politician and community leader, Alhaji Habeeb Baba Elepo .
Elepo, who died on Sunday at the age of 101 years was until his death a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) in Kwara State.
The governor was represented at the prayer by Dr Ghali Alaaya, Special Advisers on Strategy and Political Communications, Alh Saadu Salahu and Alh Bashiru Adigun respectively.
The fidau prayer was led by the Imam Imale of Ilorin, SheikhAbdullahi AbdulHameed, who was supported by eminent Imams and Alfas, including Imam Gambari, Sheikh Sulaiman, Imam Olesin, Sheikh Mohammed Sanni and the Imam of Kankatu mosque, Sheik Issa Gata, amongst others.
Imam AbdulHameed prayed Allah to forgive the deceased and accept him as His true servant.
In a brief sermon, the grand Mukadam Of Ilorin, Sheikh Sulaiman Dan- Borno extolled the virtues of Elepo and admonished his children to sustain his legacies of philanthropism and community spirit.
He reminded Muslims of the inevitability of death, admonishing them to fear God and conduct their affairs only in accordance with the dictates of the Holy Qur’an and prophetic tradition.
The eldest son of the deceased, Engr Dare Elepo described the passage of their father as a collosal loss, adding that:” We are however take solace in the fact that our father led a purposeful life worthy of emulation by all.”
In his remarks, the chairman of Ibagun Progressive Union (IPU), Alh Kuranga Omomeji Morogun, described Elepo as a worthy community leader.
Morogun added that the vaacum created by the demise of Elepo will be difficult to fill because of his truthfulness ,forthrightness and commitment to community development.
