The Kwara State Coordinator for Civil Society Working on Malaria, Immunization And Nutrition, (ACOMIN) Mr Oluwafemi Olatunbosun has applauded the state government for its effort so far in ensuring quality service delivery in health sector.
He however urged the state to increase funding at all levels for Malaria programmes in other to reduce the burden of malaria in Kwara State.
Mr Olatunbosun said this during a Media meeting on Global fund Malaria Community-led Monitoring Project being implemented by ACOMIN.
He said the state government has done its part in renovation of some health facilities and procurement of Malaria drugs across the State.
He however noted that the commitment of the community in improving the facilities is very paramount to take full ownership in order to enjoy quality health care service delivery.
He encouraged other partners to improve the quality of health services in the State.
“Though the best is yet to come out of ACOMIN in ensuring that health facilities in the state improve to standard, and to encourage the communities to fully take charge of their facilities upgrading”, he said.
He appreciated the State Government through State Ministry of health for giving enabling environment for the partners to collaborate in ensuring quality health service delivery in the State.
In her own speech, the Program Manager State Malaria Elimination, Alhaja Raji Nimota commended ACOMIN for their active support in the State in ensuring that communities always go to the facilities to access malaria treatment instead of resulting to self medications
The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) representative, Dr Nickson Hyeladendu appreciated the commitment of the State Government for the release of counterpart fund for Malaria programme and charged the government for more commitment to eliminate Malaria in the State.
The State Programme Officer, Mrs Folake Iseyemi elaborated the purpose for the quarterly media meeting to alert the society on the efforts of both the government and the partner in ensuring Malaria elimination in the State.
She highlighted some of the efforts/ successes of ACOMIN to encourage Community to take charge of the facilities in their environment to corroborate the efforts of the State Government and ACOMIN in improving health care service delivery.
She however affirmed that ACOMIN in Kwara State will never relent in their service to humanity to ensure the downtrodden get easy access to health care service delivery.
In response to SPO speech, Magagi of Tanke Alhaji Akano Shaheed Oladimeji, thanked ACOMIN and others for their unrellented efforts to support good and quality health service delivery in the State.
The Alangua Adewole community, Alhaji Hanafi Adewole, Ilorin West LGA, who was represented by Comr (Alhaji) Bello Ibrahim among other stakeholders in attendance, appreciated ACOMIN for its efforts at ensuring Malaria elimination and putting communities on their toes to take ownership of the facilities.
