Hon. Ajisafe Adeshian Lukman has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Ajisafe’s emergence followed the party’s nomination process, where he was presented as the candidate to fly the ADP flag in the forthcoming election.
Ajisafe’s emergence is being seen as an important development for the ADP as the party seeks to strengthen its presence and present a credible alternative in the forthcoming governorship contest.
His emergence is particularly significant against the background of his previous involvement in Kwara’s political activities and his understanding of the issues surrounding governance, political participation and the aspirations of ordinary residents of the state.
In his acceptance remarks, Ajisafe expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the party for the confidence reposed in him, describing his emergence as a call to service and a responsibility to the people of Kwara State.
He said his aspiration was driven by the desire to build “A New Kwara That Works for All of Us”, anchored on three key pillars: Safe, United and Prosperous Kwara.
According to him, the vision is centred on creating a state where citizens can live safely, communities can coexist peacefully and residents have access to meaningful economic opportunities.
Ajisafe said his administration, if elected, would prioritise issues affecting ordinary Kwarans, including security, education, healthcare, agriculture, employment, infrastructure, youth development and support for small businesses.
He called on party members, supporters and citizens across the state to join the movement and contribute ideas towards building a better Kwara.
“This is not about one individual. It is about all of us and the future of our state,” he said.
The ADP candidate further promised to run a campaign based on issues, policies and constructive engagement, while urging political actors and their supporters to promote peace and unity throughout the electoral process.
He said Kwara deserves a government that listens to its people, understands their challenges and is prepared to work consistently to address them.
