The Colleges of Legal and Allied Institutions Academic Staff Union (COLAASU), Kwara College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS) Chapter, has conferred an Award of Excellence on Comrade Abdulkareem Mumini Onagun, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Kwara State Governor on Labour Matters.
The award, presented during a ceremony in Ilorin, recognises Comrade Onagun’s tireless efforts and significant contributions towards improving the welfare of COLAASU members and advancing the development of CAILS.
Speaking at the event, COLAASU Chairman, Comrade H.T. Umar, praised Onagun for his exceptional service delivery, which has greatly enhanced the wellbeing of workers in the state.
He noted that Onagun’s commitment aligns with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s vision of prioritising the welfare of the workforce.
The union’s leadership described the SSA as a dedicated leader who has enhanced a harmonious relationship between the state government and organised labour unions.
They attributed his effectiveness to his extensive experience as a prominent labour leader before his appointment.
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Abdulkareem Onagun expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged continued commitment to advancing workers’ interests.
He emphasised that Governor AbdulRazaq, known for his pro-worker policies, remains steadfast in ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of both the labour force and the general populace.
The event further highlighted the administration’s commitment to facilitating positive labour relations and creating an enabling environment for workers’ growth and development in Kwara State.
