The Kwara Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening and ensuring transparency, accountability, and compliance with public procurement processes across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The General Manager of the Kwara State Public Procurement Agency (KWPPA), Mr Raheem Abdulbaki, stated this on Tuesday in Ilorin while addressing staff of the Agency at the conclusion of the statewide procurement processes review conducted across MDAs.

He explained that the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to entrench global best practices in governance and service delivery.

Abdulbaki added that the review exercise was designed to assess the level of compliance with the provisions of the State Public Procurement Law and established procurement guidelines.

He added that it also dentify areas requiring improvement for enhanced efficiency and value for money in public spending.

He commended the MDAs for the remarkable improvements recorded since the last assessment, noting that the findings reflected a growing commitment to due process, transparency, and accountability in the management of public resources.

According to him, the recently concluded review was more comprehensive and rigorous, as it focused extensively on the practical application of procurement regulations and guidelines in the execution of government projects and programmes.

“The Agency is encouraged by the progress recorded across several MDAs. However, procurement is a continuous process that requires constant improvement, strict adherence to regulations, and a collective commitment to ethical standards,” he said.

The General Manager therefore, urged accounting officers, procurement officers and other relevant stakeholders to sustain the momentum by strengthening internal processes.

Abdulbaki also urged them to improve documentation, and ensure full compliance with procurement procedures to guarantee efficiency, fairness, and quality service delivery to the people of Kwara.

He also lauded the unwavering support of Malam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whose consistent commitment to institutional reforms and good governance had continued to strengthen procurement administration in the state.

He noted that the Governor’s seasonless support for the Agency had significantly improved procurement procedures, enhanced compliance mechanisms, and created an enabling environment for transparency and accountability in the execution of public projects.

He reaffirmed the Agency’s resolve to continue working collaboratively with all MDAs to deepen procurement reforms, promote integrity in public expenditure, and ensure that government resources deliver maximum value to the citizens of Kwara State.
