PDP produces House of Reps candidates in Kwara primaries

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has produced candidates for the House of Representatives seats across the four federal constituencies in the state following the successful conduct of its primary elections.

Emerging from the exercises are Professor Fatai Aremu for the Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency, Hon. Saka Eletu for the Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency, Chief Mrs. Wosilat Atinuke Machatty for the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, and Chief Mrs. Margaret Abegunde for the Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency.

Professor Fatai Aremu, a Professor of Political Science and Asa-born politician, emerged as the consensus candidate for the Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency after polling 25,873 votes. The result was announced by the Returning Officers, Dr. Taofiq Lawal and Dr. Habeeb Amao.

In the Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency, a young real estate consultant, Hon. Saka Eletu, secured the PDP ticket after polling 20,276 votes out of the 20,376 registered voters across the constituency. His victory was declared by the Returning Officers, Professor Abdulrauf Tosho and Dr. Mutiat Odebibi-Omokanye.

Similarly, a retired Director at the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and Yeye Bobaselu of Offa Land, Chief Mrs. Wosilat Atinuke Machatty, emerged as the party’s consensus candidate for the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency. Her emergence was announced by the Returning Officers, Dr. Abdullahi Alabi and Dr. Abdulganiyu Oloyin.

Also, Chief Mrs. Margaret Abegunde, the Yeyedofin of Erinmope, emerged as the PDP candidate for the Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency after polling 15,095 votes out of 15,125 accredited party members. The Returning Officers, Dr. Beki Dahud and Dr. Kabir Ajao, declared her winner of the exercise.

The candidates were subsequently presented as the duly elected and authentic flagbearers of the party in the presence of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), members of the PDP National Election Monitoring Committee, security agencies, party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters at the PDP State Secretariat in Ilorin.

Party officials described the exercises as peaceful, orderly, transparent, and reflective of the PDP’s commitment to credible internal democracy, inclusiveness, and due process.
