In the heart of Kwara State, Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Suleiman stands as a beam of hope and a testament to dedication, integrity, and service. Born into the illustrious Suleiman family in the Okeleru Ajikobi Area of Ilorin West, Prof. Suleiman’s life exemplifies academic excellence, selfless public service, and unwavering commitment to the betterment of his people.
Despite his national and international engagements, Prof. Suleiman remains deeply committed to Kwara State’s development. As Director-General of NILDS, he has facilitated the appointment of several Kwarans to key legislative and senior aide positions in the National Assembly, ensuring that qualified individuals from the state contribute to democratic governance.
Prof. Suleiman’s dedication extends beyond official responsibilities. He is actively involved in community development initiatives, providing educational support, empowerment programmes, and solar lighting to underserved areas. His efforts have significantly improved the quality of life for many Kwarans, demonstrating his genuine concern for the welfare of his people.
However, despite his loyalty, commitment, and remarkable achievements, Prof. Suleiman has faced unwarranted criticism and negative campaigns, particularly from those who should be his dependable supporters. It is disheartening to see a community that celebrated National and State Leader, Senator (Dr.) Bukola Saraki, only to later undermine him, fail to rally behind a figure who has consistently brought pride and progress to Ilorin and Kwara State.
Today, it is imperative for the people of Kwara State to unite, irrespective of political affiliations, and recognize the invaluable contributions of Prof. Suleiman. Criticism and negative campaigns only serve to undermine the progress and development he tirelessly works to achieve. Bringing down a dedicated illustrious son of Emirate, like Prof. Suleiman will hinder the community’s growth and advancement.
The experience with Senator Bukola Saraki, who served as Senate President should serve as a poignant reminder. The community’s failure to support and maintain such significant leadership has left a void. Similarly, there is a need to rally behind Prof. Suleiman, whose leadership and commitment can drive progress for Kwara State and Nigeria.
In Prof. Abubakar Olanrewaju Suleiman, Kwara State has a man of unparalleled integrity, vision, and dedication. His contributions to public service, community development, and national governance are a source of immense pride. It is time for the people of Kwara State to embrace this remarkable achievement, support his initiatives, and ensure his legacy of progress and development continues.
