Saraki begins distribution of Ramadan welfare package

President of the 8th Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has commenced the distribution of food items worth millions of naira to various categories of people in Kwara State as Ramadan welfare package.

The annual distribution exercise, according to Saraki Press Officer on Home Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, is being coordinated by Alhaji Musa Abdullahi and Mallam Ibrahim Olayinka Otukoko and will cut across all the 193 Wards in the 16 local government areas of the State.

Beneficiaries in their thousands will include the less privileged, traditional rulers, selected spiritual leaders, prominent stakeholders, artisans, transport unions, physically challenged, non governmental organizations, aged women, local assemblies, members of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), in Kwara state and other supporters of Dr Saraki.

Alhaji Musa Abdullahi while speaking on the distribution on Tuesday, said they took delivery of over three thousand five hundred (3,500) 50kg bags of rice and other food items like semo, indomine noodles, spaghetti, semo, sugar, salt, to be distributed to the beneficiaries.

Alhaji Musa Abdullahi added that the Distribution Committee would ensure proper supervision so that the items get to the intended beneficiaries.

According to him, the gesture cannot come at a better time than now in view of the ongoing Ramadan fast, noting that the month of Ramadan is the most auspicious time to extend philanthropic gestures to the needy, even though it is part of Saraki’s routine assistance to the less privileged.

Mallam Ibrahim Olayinka Otukoko stated that the gesture would lessen the hardship on the people and allow them observe the Ramadan fast with relative comfort.
