Agriculture is an important sector of Kwara State economy which could be well utilized to develop the entire state, the gubernatorial candidate of Africa Democratic Congress ( ADC ) in the state, Lawyer Issa Manzuma has observed.
Manzuma said since the state has much comparative advantage in agricultural production when compared to some states in Nigeria, his government will bring about sustainable agriculture revolution in the state, if elected governor in the forthcoming general elections.
The ADC governorship hopeful stated this during a press interview with Journalists, today in Ilorin, the state capital, promising that he will make the state food basket of the Nigeria.
He pointed out that having realized the great potential of the agriculture to economic development, his administration will ensure proper funding of the sector through provision of various incentive windows to farmers.
The ADC governorship candidate said he will ensure massive provision of improved seedlings , farming equipment, loan facility and other facilitation for farmers with the view to improve food production in the state.
He promised to encourage mechanized farming and engagement of youth in farming activities.
He said, his administration will address youth unemployment through the instrumentality of agriculture, while the shortage of food will be promptly arrested in the interest of the people.
He noted that the intentional strategic agriculture revolution will not only serve the state sufficiently, but will also generate revenue for the state through exportation of produce.
He appealed to the electorates to support his vision to make Kwara State food basket of the nation by voting massively for his party in the upcoming governorship election.
