The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Kwara, Alhaji Shuaibu Yaman Abdullahi, has congratulated the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress on the occasion of their 13th Quadrennial Delegates Conference, held in Ilorin on Tuesday.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate in a statement by his Spokesman, Abdulwahab Oba, promised to address the challenges highlighted by the outgoing Kwara NLC chairman, Alhaji Issa Ore.
According to Yaman, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration has betrayed the workers haven failed to implement the N30,000 minimum wage as agreed with the labour force in the state.
In his address at the 13th Quadrennial Delegates Conference, Alhaji Ore frowned at the non-implementation of N30,000.00 Minimum Wage/Consequential adjustment to Pensioners in the State and Local Government to keep them abreast with their Serving Workers in the State and Local Government as well as non-payment of accumulated outstanding gratuities at both Pension Boards, arising from inadequate provision of fund for Boards to off-set gratuities.
Yaman lamented and questioned why any serious government, despite unprecedented resources at its disposal, will not pay pensioners who had given so much to the state while in active service.
The Kwara PDP gubernatorial candidate promised to grant the judiciary autonomy since Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is afraid to grant such important arms of the government their freedom.
Yaman also pledged to look into the non-Implementation of Weigh-in allowance to workers of Kwara State Council for Arts and Culture and also address the need to appoint Senior Principals and Head Teachers as Tutors-General and Head Masters-General in the State following the due process.
“I promise to be a governor for all and not for any”, Yaman said.
Alh Yaman congratulated the new chairman of the council in Kwara State, Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka and other members of the State Administrative Council, SAC of the organised labour, for a well-deserved election urging them not to betray the confidence reposed in them by the workers.
